hi all :> i've been thinking about going to an art con some time next year (2013), except I have no idea what to expect and what to bring... I've been researching all sorts but any advice helps.
if you've been to an AA before, help me out? :3
some questions:
- where do you get your prints made? any printing services you'd suggest? I've been looking at catprints but I'm open to others
- what size prints should I make? I'm hesitant on bigger prints.. are they a good idea? or do smaller prints sell well too? how many should I make?
- what else is popular aside from prints, buttons, and stickers?
- what would you suggest for a first timer?

Artist Alley 101: Things to Consider/Resources
UPDATE 2020: Hi folks! I've gotten so many great responses from people over the years about these journals, I've decided to give them a bit of an update (also because there are so many new resources out there that it's been hard to keep up). I also want to make these tips more palatable to those who don't have interest in doing solely fanart, as I've seen a lot of artists be successful in doing almost purely original work. So I hope these journals continue to be as informative and helpful as they have been over the years!
After being a member of several artist alleys for 10+ years, I thought I should share my knowledge in a practical guide.

What kind of artwork should I do?
What kind of merchandise sells well?
How am I going to display my stuff?
Where am I going to get this all done...?!

Hi there deviantart guinea pigs! 8D I'm preparing an outline for a panel at A-kon! I have vast experience attending conventions and displaying my work. What I've written here are my total thoughts on how to do your first artist alley. It has not been made into an outline yet. What I'm needing is feedback, questions, and conversations about this information so I can decide what I might add or take away from this discussion before creating a final outline and hand out! Please help me! I'd really appreciate any comments you feel ready to leave! I am not really a comfortable public speaker, I only feel capable once I have prepar

How to prepare yourself for the Artist Alley
Now I probably shouldn't be one to write this up or anything since I've been to ONE artist alley in my life-time and will be attending a second one at the end of the year, but I have been going around asking other artists about the artist alley and what should I do or what should any artist do to better prepare themselves for the anime convention's artist alley. After much much research and questionings I've compiled a list of things that have been suggested to me and others that have asked the similar question, "What should I do for the artist alley?" Hopefully this will be insightful to those artists that are attending any convention that
